Week Ending 04/02/06

We took out to Brenham to hopefully do a little Herpin, but we found nothing. That's what I get for leaving so late in the day. The temps. Have really warmed up since mid March, so the snakes were probably out and about. Wed ended up releasing some of the Texas Rats caught 2 weeks before, and we released a box turtle that we rescued from a freezing outdoor pen back in December. We thoroughly enjoyed the bluebonnets that are in full bloom at this time. Taking photographs of the family without at least someone looking down, away, or crying was worse than the Christmas card photo sessions. Working with animals would have been easier on this day. We then cruised to Oakdale Ranch just Northwest of Brenham. We hung out on the porch and watched the sun set and had good conversation with the Dales. Not too much to talk about but hey, it's a start. The first South Texas collecting trip will take place the last weekend this month. I have not made a trip to South Texas in three years. Should be a good year for annulata. I will keep you posted!

Welcome back, Herpers!

Wayne Howell

Caleb took this photo of his Mom and Dad. He's got a pretty good eye, eh?

Would you believe that just a few seconds before, someone was throwing a tantrum?

Living with The Howell's was great...living in Brenham is even better!!!
