Kimberly's Adventures |
| I have had many great adventures in my life but I have to say, when I met Wayne, I experienced them on a whole new level. I had been to West Texas on family vacations, but didn’t come to appreciate its beauty until I went there with him. |
During one of our first trips out there in '92, we visited Seminole Canyon State Park and went out on a little hike to the Pecos River. The view and the winds were breathtaking!
| In August '92 we went to Arizona and had a fantastic time herping and sightseeing. Here I am posing with the snaketongs in Madera Canyon. |
In the Spring of '93, we made our first trip to Big Bend National Park together. We went across the border at Boquillas and I experienced the local transportation. (What do you mean, tip for Chillito? What did Chillito do? HA HA) |
| We also hiked the South Rim Trail around the Chisos Mountains. Fourteen miles is a long way to walk in one day when you sit in an office all the rest of the year! |
Of course, my beloved Chevy Blazer was broken in that year! |
| We have many favorite places to hang out in West Texas and Mexico. Here is photo of Harold and Jeannie Necessary (my dad and his wife) and Wayne and me enjoying La Macarena Restaurant in Cuidad Acuna. The restaurant used to be a bull fighting arena! |
In '99, we met Lars and Ulla from Sweden on the Internet. They planned a trip to the States and we invited them to spend it with us. We spent a week in June 2000 showing them around West Texas. Here we are at La Kiva, a restaurant and bar done up like an old mine shaft, in Terlingua. |
| Wayne and I married in the Spring of '94. Our honeymoon destination of choice was beautiful and unspoiled Belize. (Let’s also talk politically stable!) We snorkeled, canoed, birdwatched, made many friends and, of course, herped! |
On our second trip to Belize in '98, we made some new friends. In the Maya village of San Pedro Columbia in the Toledo District, we met the Coy and Oh families. We stayed at the Oh’s guesthouse and enjoyed their wonderful hospitality. |
| Alfredo Coy took us on expeditions through the rainforest to look for the dangerous fer-de-lance as well as the elusive and aboreal eyelash viper. |
In March of 2000, we were given a behind the scenes tour of the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco. Here is where Wayne spotted "The Mother of All Gray-Bands!" |
| We will continue to have fun on our
many adventures and we look forward to Caleb and Weston, as well as our
future children, to share them with us! |
