Weekly Update ArchiveWeek Ending 06/04/05 This would be my first solo trip of the year. My faithful hunting partner ended up getting sick and therefore could not make it this trip. I asked a few others but no one could go. I left late Saturday morning and arrived about 4:30 P.M. I checked in to room 118 and crashed for a few hours. I went out directly to Langtry dirt, saw the same ol' atrox that I have been seeing for I don't know how long, and headed East of Langtry this time. I did not see anything, so I headed back to the West. I would run into Tom and Maureen, then low and behold I ran into the infamous Bob Clark from Oklahoma. I was quite shocked to see him out here as I never had before. There was a good reason for that. This was his first time. He was traveling around with Texas resident Michael Hicks. It was nice to see them. I later ran into Steve Boyd. I would find that he had caught and alterna West of me, and then a guys named Mike from Dallas had caught two the night before, and one just minutes from when I ran into him. I just was not lucky tonight and the only thing I saw was Maureen spotlighting a longnose. I ran up the cut and grabbed it for them. We would later find out that it was released just five minutes before they saw it, by Jason Hood and his friend. What a trip! I was "lucky" and ended up with my first flat in my "new" GMC Yukon. I realized this when I was on the Langtry loop. It took my and hour and a half to accomplish replacing this flat. Newer automobiles are very different from my old beloved Chevy Blazer. Thank you to Tom and Maureen who showed up to give me a hand or a ride if I needed one. One thing that really pisses me off about auto manufacturers is they cannot even supply the owner of their vehicles a jack that will jack the car or truck in this case, high enough to change the damned tire! I had steal a 3 inch high flat brick from the gift shop parking lot at Judge Roy Bean visitor center just to get the jack high enough to change the friggin tire! I was less than pleased. I will be contacting them just to bitch about this. I hunted cuts on and off all the way back to Motel 6. I arrived back at 6:05 a.m. empty handed. To this point the only successful trip has been trip #2. This is the last trip for me this month as the next big vacation is BELIZE!!!!! Rock on Herpers and good luck to all. Collecting will be good this coming week! Writers note: I just
want to congratulate Tom and Maureen Eisele on their 4 alterna they caught
before heading home to New York. Also, to Robert Pelaez form Phoenix AZ.
He caught 8 alterna in the Sanderson area as well as outside of Dryden.
You guys cleaned up. I think I will be taking 9 days around the dark of
the moon next June. At least that is the plan!
